So I went into trader joes for an errand for my uncle, and the guy in front of me was asking the casher about the blueberries he was buying. Mind you, this guy was red as a beet and was also buying about 45 of those high protein meal replacement bars. He said that he had bought two types of blueberries and that he was not sure if he could have one of them. One was organic and one was not. He said, and now I am quoting..."I cannot have the non-organic blueberries because they have Plutonium in them." I was astonished and had to keep from bursting into laughter. He then said "My body can take Zinc and Lead, but not Plutonium." He slowly walked away and I had to fight the urge to scream after him "UP UP AND AWAY."
Moral of the story...People in Los Angeles are FUCKING NUTS!! |

So all I have been doing in terms of LJ is posting Surveys so I thought it would be good to actually post what is going on in my life.
Life sucks. I have applied to 25+ jobs and none of them have come back to me. It seems I am either overqualified or under qualified, which fucking sucks. I am currently working for my uncle in West LA. He is starting up his own management company for bands. It is a lot of fun but he is a cheep asshole. He pays me 20 bucks a day, which i take cause i need the fucking money. He even told his 9 year old son, who got back to me and told me, that he is not paying me enough. He has also told his wife this and she encouraged him to pay me 50 a day. Still not glamorous but something I can actually live on. BUT...when I asked him about this he said that it was preposterous and that if anything, I should be paying him for all of the knowledge he is giving me. So thus I am still stuck making 100 a week. Oh and I feel it necessary to mention that he expects me to do a lot of errands for him and, when we go to clubs to see possible bands, I have to drive. Now mind you, gas in LA is in the mid 3 dollers for the cheap shit. I also drive 50+ miles a day to get to a from work and my car, if i drive extremely well, gets a max of 21 miles to the gallon. So ya, I am basically doing nothing but work, and when I do see my friends we cannot do anything that costs that much money cause...I HAVE NONE.
Living with my mother is a pain in the ass. I am lucky that I am not paying rent, but it is still no fun at all. I am constantly having battles with her, where she will complain about some minute thing that i am doing, or have not done, and acts as if it is the end of the world. I do my best to be in my room or at work as much as possible.
The one saving grace is that I am working my ass off to try and get into a grad school on the east coast for next year. I want desperately to get out of cali (i know wierd coming from me huh). So I have been working on my essays and applications.
Not too much else to talk about.
Keep in touch, I miss everyone so much and I am looking forward to seeing everyone in late Dec when I come back to visit. |

Bush calls the al Qaeda people cowards, and says, "They like to hide." Well, isn't that what the American Continental Army did during the American Revolution? Our beloved patriots? They hid. They hid behind trees. Then they came out, killed some British soldiers, and ran away. Just like al Qaeda. That's what you do when you're out numbered and have less firepower that the enemy. It's called "trying to win." It's not cowardly.
Bill Maher may have stretched the point when he said that the Air Force pilots who released their bombs from hundreds of miles away are cowards; flying combat jets doesn't attract many cowards. But it's not nearly as courageous an act as deliberately strapping a bomb to your chest and heading for the disco with no intentions of dancing.
I will say this. Getting out of the Vietnam War through daddy's connections and then not living up to your end of the bargain is probably a form of cowardice. |

When I finished the last entry it dawned on me that the story of Jesus' birth probably did not go as smoothly as it did in the Bible. So here, for your enjoyment, is a play by play of Mary's conversation with Joseph upon being informed of her divine presence...
Mary: Joe, we're going to have a baby.
Joe: What? That's impossible. All i ever do it put it between your thighs.
Mary: Well, I don't know. Something must have gone wrong.
Joe: Who says you're pregnant?
Mary: An angel appeared to me in the backyard and said so.
Joe: An angel?
Mary: An angel of God. His name was Gabriel. He has a trumpet and he appeared to me in the back yard.
Joe: He what?
Mary: He appeared to me.
Joe: Was he naked?
Mary: No, I think he had on a raincoat. I don't really know. He was glowing so brightly.

Mary: Well, Gabriel said that according to Luke it;s kind of an ego thing. Plus, he promised the Jews a long time ago, it's just that he never got around to it. But now that he feels ready for children he doesn't want to just make them out of clay or dust. He wants to get humans involved.
Joe: Well, is he going to help toward raising the kid? God knows we can't do it alone. I could use a bigger shop, and maybe he could throw a couple of those nice crucifix contracts my way. The Romans are nailin' up everything that walks.
Mary: Honey, Gabriel said not to worry. The kid would be a real winner. A public speaker and good with miracles.
Joe: Well that's a relief. Anyway, I guess now that you're officially pregnant I can start puttin' it inside you.

I find it discouraging, and a bit depressing, when i notice the unequal treatment afforded by the media to UFO believers on the one hand, and on the other, to those who believe in an invisible supreme being who inhabits the sky. Especially as the latter belief applies to the whole Jesus-Messaih-Son-Of-God fable.
You may have noticed that, in the media, UFO believers are usually referred to as "buffs," a term used to diminish and marginalize them by relegating them to the ranks of hobbyists and mere enthusiasts. The are made to seem the kooks and quaint dingbats who have the nerve to believe, that in an observable universe of trillions upon trillions of stars, and most likely mony hundreds of billions of potentially inhabitable planets, some of those planes may have produced life-forms capable of doing things that we cannot do.
On the other hand those who believe in an eternal, all-powerful being, a being who demands to be loved and adored unconditionally and who punishes and rewards according to his whims are through to be worthy, upright, credible people. This, in spite of the large numbers of believers who are clearly close-minded fanatics.
To my way of thinking, there is every bit as much evidence for the existence of UFOs as there is for the existence of God. Probable far more. At least in the case of UFOs there have been countless taped and filmed, and, by the way, unexplained sightings from all over the world, along with documented radar evidence seen by experienced military and civilian radar operators.
This does not even begin to include the widespread testimony of not only highly trained, experienced military and civilian pilots who are selected for their jobs, in part, for their above average eyesight and mental stability, but also of equally well trained, experienced law enforcement officers. Such pilots and law enforcement officers are known to be serious, sober individuals who would have quite a bit to lose were they to lose were they to be associated with anything resembling kooky, outlandish beliefs. Nontheless, they have taken the risk of revealing their experiences because they are convinced they have seen something objectively real that they consider important.
All of these accounts are ignored by thhe media.
Granted, the world of UFO belief has its share of kooks, nuts, and fringe people, but have you ever listened to some of these religious true believers? Have you ever heard of and extreme, bizarre behavior and outlandish claims associated with religious zealots? Could any of them be considered kooks,nuts or dingbats? A fair person would have to say yes.
But the marginal people in these two groups don't matter in this argument. What matters is the prejudice and superstition built into the media coverage of the two sets of beliefs. One is treated reverently and accepted as received truth, the other is treated laughingly and dismisses out of hand.
As evidence of the above premise, I offer you one version of a typical television news story heard each year on the final Friday of Lent:
"Today is Good Friday, observed worldwide by Christians worldwide as a day that commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, whose death redeemed the sins of mankind."
Here is the way it SHOULD be written:
"Today is Good Friday, observed worldwide by Jesus buffs as the day on which, the popular, bearded cultural figure, sometimes referred to as "The Messiah," was allegedly crucified and, according to legend, died for mankind's so-called sins. Today kicks of a 'holy' weekend that culminated on Easter Sunday, when, it is widely believed, this dead 'savior,' who also, by the way claimed to be the song of a sky-dwelling, invisible being known as God, mysteriously 'rose from the dead."
"According to legend, by volunteering to be killed and actually going through with it, Jesus saved every person who has ever lived, and every person who WILL ever live, from an eternity of suffering in a fiery region popularly known as hell, providing, so the story goes, that the person to be 'saved' firmly believes this rather fanciful tale."
That would be an example of an unbiased news reporting. Don't wait around for it to happen. The Aliens will land first. |

Let me tell you a story of when I flew back from Mass. to LA to move home. I arrived at the airport and the shuttle dropped me off at the curb and left me there with two big trunks, a big suite case, a duffel and a laptop case. Let me step back a second to say that I have mono and am not supposed to do a lot of strenuous activity, which includes heavy lifting. I went to look for a cart with which I could load up all of my bags and not have to lug them everywhere by hand. The cart despenser was empty so I went to ask the AA guy who works with curbside check in. Let me tell you, he was a BIG help. I told him that the cart thingy was empty and asked if I could borrow one of the big ones because I was sick and not supposed to do heavy lifting. He said no but that I could go downstairs and get one there. I told him that I had a lot of bags and, what was I supposed to do with them. he said that I could not leave them there and had to take then with me. I said I had too many, and thus how was I supposed to get it. He said he didn't know and then walked away. So I said fuck him and went through the lobby and found one and came back to my bags. Check in was lots of fun as always but not really eventful enough to talk about here. Now comes security. Well first off there is a line that goes beyond the limits of the strap/rope dividers, and they, of course in their INFINITE wisdom, only have one station open. When I FINALLY get there, I am selected for a personal screening. I go through the metal detector and am directed to a little display booth surrounded by bullet proof glass and am then searched using a wand metal detector. But I just went through a metal detector, so why is this happening. he does the wand thingy...and then frisks me...but he just wanded me and i went through a metal detector. anyway. I am then escorted my and armed guard with his hand on his gun and the strap undone to a table with my bags on them. they tell me to stand back and let them do their job. I of course comply. The precede to open up and then dump all of my stuff on a table and testing all of it for explosives. I need to mention that the guard that escorted me there is standing a mere 5 feet from me with his hand still on his gun. So after that lovely ordeal I go to my plane and when we board I get on and there is a man in my seat. *Sidebar* American Airlines has very small seats and thus no leg room. I am 6' 2" and as a result always get aisle seats so I can stretch out a little. So I tell the man that he is in my seat and he says "well my family is across the aisle so you can just sit in the middle seat." I reply that this is not going to happen and that I am taking my seat. He says he was there first and that I can take the other seat. I look at him in the eye and tell him to get out of my seat. He finally complies with some reluctance. He then TELLS me that if someone does not sit in the window seat that I will take that one and he will take the aisle. I again reassure him that, no I will not be doing this. The a woman takes the window seat and he is nothing less of an afficious prick to me the whole flight. After the plane reaches cruising altitude I go to the bathroom. Now in every other airline I have traveled with, it has been perfectly acceptable to stand back in the galley with the flight attendants to wait for the bathroom. Well apparently not AA, because the instant I set one foot in the galley a flight attendant starts ripping into me screaming that I am not allowed there and that I have to stay ini the aisle. I ask why and she says "Those are the rules." Whatever, so I sand back, wait for the bathroom and go back to my seat. Well midway through the next movie I have to go again. I head back there and as I approach the bathroom the same bitch of a flight attendant is about to push a food and beverage cart down the aisle. She asks me to move and I ask her where she wants me to move. She tells me to come into the galley to let her go. I reply "I cannot, those are the rules." After she begged for a few seconds I went into the galley and let her go on her way.
Well that is the just of my trip, Oh ya, I almost forgot the trip from LAX to my house. My mother drove 10-15 UNDER the speed limit and refused to use the freeway because of a little bit of traffic and thus did the 45+ mile trip home by surface street. What should have taken me an hr 15 at most with traffic took me 2 hrs and 45 minutes. I wanted to die. |

So for those of you who do not know, I will be moving back to LA CA as of this Thursday. I will be there indefinitely. I am very sad to go but it is the best decision for me to do. I hope to be getting a job in the entertainment industry and be able to save a lot of money so that I can eventually move back to the east coast where all my friends and loved ones are.
In other news, I have been extremely sick lately. I went to the ER a little over a week ago because I could not move my neck and had a fever along with a horrible headache. While I was at the ER the Mensa candidate Doctor I had looked at my ear, which had been bothering me for about a week. It turned out that I had (still have) a scab on my ear drum, and let me tell you, YES, it is a lovely as it sounds. Anyway, he set me up with an antibiotic that HE SAID would take care of the ear infection and also get rid of this wierd skin condition that I had on my chin and neck. Well first let me tell you that this medication was $16.00 a pill and my insurance, which is supposed to be top notch, covered 1/4 of it. WAHOO!! For the betterment of all of my friends, the medication I was prescribed is called Levaquin. NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES LET ANY DOCTOR PRESCRIBE YOU THIS MED. First off, my ear condition, that he said was going to be taken care of with the WONDER DRUG LEVAQUIN, is still there and actually GOT WORSE. I have 95% hearing loss in my left ear and 75% loss in my right. Now this is just for starters. Since starting this medication, I have experienced traumatic dreams that are so vivid that I wake up unsure if I am still dreaming. I also have been extremely lethargic and as a result usually sleep 16-20 hours a day. When I am not sleeping, I am in immense pain in my ear and other parts of my body. I am also plagued with paranoia, and a complete loss of appetite. Here is the best part of all of this. EVERYTHING THAT I EAT AND DRINK, TASTES LIKE METAL. At first I thought that I had Mono, but upon looking at the side effects of LEVAQUIN, I am beginning to think that it is not Mono but instead simply the medication.
Anyway, on to a lighter subject. While I am moving back to Cali for a prologued period of time, I am going to try my hardest to come back to the Boston area for New Years. I am thinking about coming back Dec 26th and staying until a little past New Years, of course pending my job requirements. I would be very grateful for place to stay while I am there, so anyone who has a couch and a desire to see me, please let me know. I miss you all so much already and I am looking forward to December immensely. As always, if any of you find that you are coming to the LA area, please let me know and you will be more than welcome to stay at my place.

So it is official, I am moving back to California as of mid Aug. As a result of a lack of money and for that matter, a job, all signs are pointing to me moving back to Cali to live at home (woohoo) and try my luck at a job there. Needless to say I am not happy about this at all. All of the people that I love and hold most dear to me are back here on the East Coast (sorry Hobbit, I pretty much count you as an east coaster seeing as you are here most of the year). The job market out in LA is better and I will not be paying rent or utilities for that matter, so I will be able to save some money (pending a job) and really just hope for the best. As for my grad school plans, as of yet, there are none. I know that I want to go back to school for grad school, but as to where, that is still up in the air. Money wise, California would be the best bet, but as for where I would most likely be the most happy, the Boston area comes readily to mind. That was the plan from the get go: Move to Boston with Ben and Erica, get a job for a year or so, and then go to a grad school in the area so as to still be near to my friends and such. So much for that plan. Well anyways, I am planing a trip to Boston soon to see Mali and Amanda, so who ever else wants to come along is more than welcome and in fact encouraged. I do hope that just because I am 3000 miles away our friendships do not slack. I love you all so much and I cannot see my life being happy without all of you in it. Wow, that sounded really sappy and I am sorry for that.
